Purpose
This server will focus on a configuration that encourages playing Minecraft as designed in survival mode.
We are a small community of gamers that appreciates a focus on long term friendships. A lot of us have lived or currently do live close to/with other players on the server. Our goal is to enjoy playing Minecraft and share the experience with good friends. The server physically exists on the West Coast of the United States (more specifically in Phoenix, AZ.)
While this community is not a democracy the player base is respected and listened to.
Donations
Please consider helping support this server financially, if you can. There is no requirement to donate anything in order to play. If you donate at least $10/month, I will ensure you always have a spot to play when you want. But even a one time $5 donation is greatly appreciated. You also get a sponge block for every $1 you donate. Sponge blocks do nothing, but they sure are PRETTY!
This server runs on dedicated hardware. That means we have complete control over our environment and that costs. I pay $118/month. I do use some of the server for my own personal things (e.g. a few extremely low-usage websites with only a couple of users, an e-mail server, etc.) I value the resources to me personally at $50/month. This means I see $68/month as pure Minecraft cost. I'm willing to pitch in myself additionally to cover the costs of Minecraft. However, I also really could use some help as paying $68/month to play Minecraft would make me not do this any more.
I keep a completely public financial ledger on the forum so you can see who has donated and how the money is being used. Anything received in excess of what is needed that month is applied to the next month's costs. I'm not trying to make any money off this. It is a hobby.
Rules
There are a few rules that need to be said, and you need to read and understand them fully before you decide you'd like to play with us:
- Do not build within a couple hundred blocks of the spawn.
- We've already got a few people doing this and if everyone did the same it'd cluster up quickly. I'm going to reserve this area for future public utility type of structures.
- Do not build within close proximity of other players' structures.
- Study the map, understand where people are located. If you want a location right next to someone else, engage them in a conversation and make sure you give them whatever room they want as they were there first. Use a 100 block gap from any existing structure as a rule of thumb, but really just use common sense.
- Minimize your environmental impact.
-
- Do not partially cut down trees. It looks ugly. Also, try to leave the large trees that have multiple branches. They are more rare and unique.
- Do not spam blocks, and make everything look messy. In other words, don't go around leaving single block towers everywhere.
- Be sensitive to your impact on the natural landscape in general.
- No pixel art. (Exception: Inside your walled region or your private structure where it is not easily seen by casual passerbys outside of your area/structure.)
- Unless your making a purposely isolated structure for personal reasons try to link it up with the existing transit systems (roads, tracks, canals, etc).
- Obey sign instructions and area delineations.
-
- Do not enter structures that have a sign up containing the words "No Tresspassing".
- Do not take any resources out of chests that have a sign containing the word "Personal".
- Do not cross area delineations (walls, fences, etc.)
Basically, do not go into another player's area without knowing you are explicitly welcome and how you are expected to interact with that area.
- Lava, Fire, and TNT are restricted.
- By default, lava buckets, flint and steel, and TNT will be disabled. You'll need to ask me before you can use them. After a while of getting to know you I'll allow it.
- Do not try and bend the rules.
- If there's something I've missed which you could do and know it'll annoy other players, don't do it. These rules are not set in stone, and they are not complete. They are designed to give you a concept into the mentality we have on this server. Just use common sense; Don't dig a big hole under that guys base... Don't set all the trees on fire... Don't cover all the land in water for no reason... Don't steal other peoples' stuff... You get the idea, right?
- Ask for help.
- I don't mean to sound intimidating. Overall, I'm a nice guy. Hopefully I can just get some new people on the server and we can all be friends and have fun. If you're unsure about something just ask. I'm pretty much always around to help. Even when I'm not playing, I'm almost always monitoring the server and the console. Yell for help and I should respond soon enough.
Whitelist
- You have to be at least 21.
- Well, sort of. If you can fake being 21, you'll get access because I have no way of verifying. But the concept is that we are seeking maturity. If you are 15 and act 21, you are in. If you are 21 and act 15, you are not.
- Create an account on the forum.
- Introduce yourself with more than just your in-game name and less than the entire history of your family. Make it clear you have common sense and will attempt to use it at all times. Confirm you have read and understand the rules by clarifying your understanding of at least one of them.
